Dru Hill | InDRUpendence Day

Dru Hill | InDRUpendence Day

(Advance Review – Album to be Released July 27th, 2010)

Ron Kenoly sang, ‘if you catch hell don’t hold it, if you are going through hell don’t stop’. Dru Hill may have gone through high peaks and low lows, an on air reunion and an immediate break up (while still on air), personality crashes and even the exit of one of their own, Woody, but the group still has outstanding vocals and an impressive new album entitled, InDruPendence Day.

Sisqo, Jazz, & Nokio, joined by a new member Tao (pronounced as Tay-oh) begin the album with an up-tempo song ‘Shut It Down’ which in no time will be hitting the clubs and sending us all on the dance floor. With a new recording label, Kedar Entertainment, the Maryland natives worked with various producers, including Keith Sweat and Wirlie Morris, to deliver song after song – proving they have not weathered with the changing seasons of their careers.

In my favorite song, ‘Back To The Future’, they sing:

“I remember we used to ask each other, how many kids are we gonna have,

I remember we used to make plans like, I cook the food you cut the grass,

I remember when we used to go house shopping, and how picky you used to be,

I recall when we would watch Bill Cosby and say ‘that’s how we gonna be’.”

Of course, I love the song because it reminds me of all the castles we build when we are freshly in love. I am sure many of you will relate. ‘Love MD’ is their new single and judging from the video, maybe the boot camp on Keith Sweats’ show “Platinum House”, airing on Centric TV did help.

This album is another ‘must have’ for both old Dru Hill fans and the new ones who may have missed them in the 90’s. InDruPendence Day will be in stores on July 27th. You may pre-order your copy on amazon.com, Target or Fye.
