Jeffrey Suttles – Time to Suttledown

Jeffery Suttles

He’s been the drummer for Taylor Dayne for sixteen years, he appeared in the film “Coming to America” and he been in countless video’s and worked with everybody from Quincy Jones to Teena Marie. Now it’s time to SuttleDown with Jeffery B. Suttles. This will be the sleeper cd of the year.

Jeffery’s debut cd features a allstar lineup featuring Patrice Rushen,Ronnie Garrett, Alex Al, Larry Kimbel, Andrea Delano, and countless others to make this debut special.

A run in the dark starts this cd off with a serious 70’s funk feel to it, then it brings in the horn section that really give it a seventies feel. Patrice lays down a nice electric piano solo, to compliment the groove that is steady throughout the song.

From the other side of the canyon, and The Cheetah are very nice up tempo song, the sax and piano solos glide effortlessly over the steady groove provided by Jeffery

In a short time has a nice laid back church beat to it, with a lite and airy sax solo, with plenty of room to improvise, and Patrice has laid down another nice piano solo to compliment the groove.

Simple pleasures is my favorite song on the whole cd, it’s have everything and jazz song should have, Patrice’s solo is a reminder of the solo she did on “haven’t you heard”, and a funky beat to

Glide that solo over, Jeffery added string to this song even though their keyboard enhance strings it really sets a tone.

Ride above the clouds, The sunrise, is nice and mellow, destined to be a radio staple in the quiet storm format.

Time to suttledown and springtime breeze picks up the pace a little bit, with a nice rhythm and groove to it.

I’ll always love you, which is Taylor Dayne’s signature, hit song. Jeffery does a nice cover of it,

Andrea’s sax solo is not as strong as I wanted it to be, but this song will get Jeffery recognized

On smooth jazz radio.

All in all this is a very good cd, the beats are strong, the solo’s are strong to me this will be the sleeper cd of the year, and it is a must for your collection.
