The title track “My Inspiration” carries a significant overtone of appreciation for the many past musicians that touched the heart & soul of Mr. Harp. Which includes the legacies of the late Grover Washington Jr., & Michael Brecker; “Don’t Look Any Further”, the classic R&B hit from Dennis Edwards receives an acoustic guitar blast from Doc Powell; George Duke ain’t messin around on the ivories when he blessed a solo on “Chasin”!
In Old School”, the roller skatin’ 70’s vibe picks right through your speakers & bring reminisce the minute you hear it.; James Lloyd from stellar – contemporary jazz group ‘Pieces Of A Dream’ pens “Juke Joint”, which gets into a trademark groove often felt when Mr. Harp brings it to you. No doubt!
The overall feel for this project picks right off where “In The Moment”, Mr. Harp’s last project left. Courtesy of Shanachie, his 2nd project from the label, you shouldn’t go wrong if you had enjoyed the last one. Its always refreshing to hear Everette’s music. Especially when he gets right into it – like my most favorite CD from him involving Marvin Gaye. Everette represents fine culture & true spirit & it’s revealed throughout “My Inspiration”!
Take Care…
