Kirk Franklin – The Fight Of My Life

THIS IS IT….!

THE FIGHT OF MY LIFE.
As proclaimed by consistent Urban Gospel Star Kirk Franklin…

He’s back & absolutely motivated. The texture of compositions laid on canvas painted a direct blow to immediate praise worship on various platforms. the disc can hover over dance able tracks (be careful there) & float you near heavens gate with quiet worship songs. Much of his template remains the same, reminding his faithful fan base that Kirk hasn’t lost a step & just may have sent a message to the Gospel Community awaiting for something to move them.

The track listings amplify themselves. As to say they are self-explanatory. Where it takes you when you listen to them is the other fraction. For example, “Declaration (This Is It)” borrowed the hit track from Kenny Loggins & added a more urban dance theme. Will you accept this track for it to be a dance track or a high octane worship praise? Either way, this track grooves & the remix is no joke!; A couple of tracks that followed soothed the soul & gracefully elevated The Power Of The Lord at the forefront of discussion & hymns – “Help Me Believe”, “Hide Me” & “How It Used To Be” sequenced perfectly within each others time frame to share an important message & devotion. Again, those track titles are self-explanatory. The rest of the composed melodies featured very nice vocal arrangements. You will catch that as the disc flows….

Watch out for the lyrics to “Little Boy”. A special message awaits the youth RIGHT THERE! Featuring Rance Allen & Isaac Carree. Watch!

The Turntable scratch to bring in “Jesus” was original & quite different to say the least. Kirk attempts to bring in the sounds of Hip-Hop to Gospel again, especially with certain references to the ‘club scene’ & the question of the week is put in check. Did he ‘cross-over’ & finally caught your attention? Will you bring this groove/praise back for playback? It’s on you…song samples are available at www.amazon.com.

The TobyMac collaborated “I Am God” wasn’t received (yet). It may grow on me however, but the song totally took me out of the elements of the disc. The riveting guitarline provides the listener another approach to the Worldly Gospel sound with an edgy rock music background. It’s different, that’s fa sure!

Then, the music comes back home in “It Would Take All Day”. And when I mean it comes back home, It quickly showcases the primary reason why Kirk Franklin is well received. Whenever he can puts together a solid slow motion Gospel song, it GRABS your attention. It pulls your attraction, especially when he is backed with a powerful, harmonious choir! Especially That!

“A Whole Nation” brings on the Urban strength in music. With a hardnose theme & hip hop lyrics, including a special solo from Donvan Owens. What possibly will be remembered is the performance from Donovan.

The Roller Skates got put in check from Kirk when he dropped “Still In Love”. The beat gets the fluids rollin’…the choir catches the hookline…..the lights are bright…The Lord is the subject of praise….This track flows HARD! Put an “*” next to that one. You may come back to it!

And as always, I’ll stop right there. “Declaration” catches the repeat button because of the remix to Kenny Loggins. And that’s what I want to see happen later. That I will want to cold dig that track for the praise of the Lord, not a reminder of the mighty 80’s music Kenny left when he came onto the scene (He wasn’t the only one). New School Players in Gospel out there should be VERY CAREFUL now when they sample a classic track & go serve some different ingredients to it to make their own recipe for us to bite into. Beats & themes interjecting the Gospel sound should be the background to the word of God, not the forefront. Don’t let the message of God get lost into pleasing the club scene. That’s my only concern. There’s 2 different worlds there.

Old School music (70’s & 80’s) is back! But guess what y’all….
…so is Kirk Franklin! This CD is Recommended!
