Bob Baldwin – NewUrbanJazz.com
This Brotha is so serious about his music & how he wants to project his sounds to the world. It’s imminent & straight up. Nothing to play around with. If you had followed the various collectibles of projects, his live performances, & his new radio show in Atlanta, then its not a recurrent issue of his biography – its a re-introduction….
The consistence of Contemporary Jazz piano man – Bob Baldwin, pays off to the respect of a new, or recently introduced sound of urban jazz music in “NewUrbanJazz.com”. And Bob lays it all on the line for this one folks! Especially with the stellar special guests featured to contribute on his art canvas:

~ What Is New Urban Jazz?
The stroll down the block reveals that Bob wanted us to feel the change of direction in the way contemporary jazz is now presented. Although many will agree – much of cont. jazz is made up of R&B grooves & melodies. Well, Bob takes it to another level by presenting beautifully created compositions, special guest solos & much more. Nothing new from Bob, personally speaking, ’cause I KNOW when Bob comes to play….HE COMES TO PLAY!
…straight from the opener “Jeep Jazz”, jumps the bumps in the trunk. His special ‘DJ’ voice opening, marks the creation of “NewUrbanJazz.com”; Every other track flows in sequence & in conjunction to rhythm. “My Cherie Amour” finally brings Bob & Najee together – as the listener, you will hopefully enjoy the collaboration; “Take My Hand” stimulates the urban sounds with the golden touch of the piano; The saxophone groove of Marion Meadows taps into the limelight with “She’s All That”.
I was quickly diggin’ the remix to “Too Late” & the lead balladeering from Phil Perry. This one stayed close to the repeat button*; The hipness & sway into the beat carouses “It Is What It Is” by all means. You’ll see!; A great musician in all of his right – Frank McComb – comes to vocally scat in “Flying High” – an upper tempo gem; Legendary bandleader/jazz artist “Joe Zawinul” has his memory felt, alongside an exceptional organ solo by Ike Stubblefield.
16 tracks of total music! That should settle easily with those always seeking additional airplay for a complete album. Bob even breaks down his take on NewUrbanJazz, as the Godfather of the new genre, on track 16 for all of y’all eagerly to gain the full perspective of this new game in Contemporary Jazz. Either way it goes, the CD has some great music. Check it!
