Wondering where the entire funk went? Well, I’ll tell you what: It went to Daddy Cool, whose CD encompasses influences from Parliament-Funkadelic, Sly Stone, Cameo and James Brown.
This multi-instrumentalist, producer & engineer is keeping the funk alive! “Call Me Daddy” is a tribute to James Brown, especially after the hilarious track, “Merry X-mas Man” & its almost 11 minutes of funk. The reprise is a little jazzy instrumental.
Other funk songs/jams are “Blow My Rhythm”, “Longer Way Around”, “Full Moon Street”, “Past Tense”, & “Finally Say”. You need to treat yourself to this project. Do not sleep on it! It’s a very impressive debut CD. And trust me, when you put this in your car, you will take the ‘longer way around’ to your pointed destination!
