Hakim – sampler to “Sleepless”

Hakim is a soulful singer from Atlanta; now living in New Orleans has produced a 3-song sampler which is the first helping of songs from his Debut Album Sleepless in Decatur – set for release in spring 09  

What attracted me to these songs were the arrangement, instrumentation and the song’s progression, it puts you in the mind of Stevie and how the beat is simple but the complexity of the song wasn’t to busy.
 
The two songs “You Gotta Good Thang” and “Come To Me” are really smooth and danceable and the remix for “Come To Me”. It’s more polished and musically dynamic. “You Got a Good Thang” is reminiscent of the best music from the late 90’s, his voice is very young and to my ear is a cross between early Michael Jackson and Raphael Saadiq music. You will love the sound of his voice. Even though this is a sampler, I can’t wait for the whole cd to come out.
