Steve Arrington | Pure Thang
Steve Arrington | Pure Thang By Marv D.
It was “Just A Touch Of Love” that had him “Watching You”. Then he said “Wait For Me” while he took your “Snapshot”. After a lengthy discussion, he took you “Way Out” and concluded that “Nobody Can Be You” and made you “Weak At The Knees”. And told the world that you “Feel So Real” and was “Dancing In The Key Of Life”. Come to find out she was sneaking around with his “Homeboy”. He looked to God and got “Jammed Pack” with the spirit of “Stoned Love”.
It’s been 21 years since his last “Secular” album, 11 years since his last “Gospel” album, and three years in the making… Steve Arrington is back with his newest CD, “Pure Thang”.
The originator of Gospel Funk is putting every gospel artist on notice that he is back and showing how it is done. Early on with Slave and the Hall of Fame albums, Steve has always hinted on the gospel in his songs, and in my opinion this CD would have been the 4th. “Right Here Right Now” comes all the way back from Alabama and slaps you with the funk right away, in letting you know that Steve has not lost the funk like most artist’s of the old school trying to regain the funk in their music, The funk has long forgot them.

It’s true
This cd is a well rounded gospel project that includes funk, rock, r&b, jazz. My suggestion is to listen to the music then go back and listen to the inspirational words Steve is singing & witnessing. Then third, put it all together and listen to it again and if you don’t get it by now, we need to talk.
