Paris Bennett | Princess P

We are talking about 306 Entertainments new release from the one & only American Idol runner-up Paris Bennett & her chance at shining, …or lets just say ‘wave the magic wand’ from her chambers to drop 16 tracks of flavor to give us all another chance to see if she was indeed capable of winning the ‘idol’ honor or just another wanne-be in the wings!

Much of this release wasted no time to distinguish itself directly from the rest of the crop. It’s Urban R&B for sure, It has its productive & compositional moments – sharing pastime melodies & similar hooks/beats from the predecessors (Beyonce, Fantasia, Ciara just to name a few…) & of course…it comes with rap cut. Yes! A Rap cut…called “Let Me Rap“! Nice try. I thought it didn’t fit the project, but who knows, it may come back later to re-assure me.

Being that she has her back in marketing from Fox’s American Idol, meaning she’s been on a program seen around the world, viewed by MILLIONS of fans, viewers, etc, etc….I was just wondering why she wasn’t given a shot by big name producers for this project. Jermaine Dupri? Shep Crawford? Tim & Bob? The list can grow…& it’s the reason why I was disappointed in the LP.

Her vocals, of course, are not of the question. But, she needed compositions to help her ‘stretch’ out her vocal prowess!

It’s another project that can possibly grow on you, depending on your needs. Paris can definitely reach into the Nickelodeon channel fan base with this one. She lacks maturity, which in time can flourish with the right ingredients the next time ‘Princess P’ goes back to the castle to play…

I’m out…
