Are ya’ll ready to be delighted with some strong up-lifting grooves to ever quinch your thirst for high energy jazz? This CD is directly fit in providing listeners to the wave of everlasting tunes, of which Dr. Smith hammers it down on the B-3! Featuring Peter Bernstein (Guitar) Allison Miller (Drums/Percussion), and Matt Balitsaris (Rhythm & Acoustic Guitar)….this disc should please jazz purists & new listeners alike! Dr. Smith & his crew doesn’t mess around folks!

The Cuts:

Keep this mind when listening to these musical pleasures, you are dealing with a cat who has been in the jazz game for a loonngg time! A legend to be exact. There’s only a very few B-3 players out there whose names should be mentioned alongside Dr. Smith, otherwise, he is in a class all by himself.

Wait until you catch the fluid entry of “Trouble Man” – a Marvin Gaye classic. It will take your breath away! In fact, the disc comes ready to pay homage to the likes of Thelonious Monk, Ann Ronell, Frank Foster, & Eddie Harris…as well as some originals!

“Witch Doctor” was downright funky! It steps into a infectious grooved template, showcased samples of solos by the guitar & B-3…& easily rides your mindset through the headphones or the loudspeakers! I would suggest turning your volume pitch up slightly & swith it directly to your loudspeakers for this one! In fact, I’ve been waiting to hear something coming from Dr. Smith like this, much like the classic projects he laced back in the 70’s!!

Clearly a winner, Pick this one up if appreciate Soul Jazz!! This also may not be a bad suggestion for new listeners seeking to discover a different taste of apple pie coming from the ovens of the jazz genre!
