Queen Latifah – The Dana Owens Album

“Close Your Eyes” & let the Queen take you away!! All I can say is my girl Latifah has it goin’ on.  Her rendition of “Baby Get Lost” will definitely please your senses.  She follows with “I Put A Spell On You” that will do just that.   Queen Latifah has pulled out all the stops with “The Dana Owens Album”.  Her smoky tones and lyrical styling’s will dance through you like a hot knife through butter. “Simply Beautiful” speaks volumes and what she does with “Moody’s Mood For Love” will very likely put you in the mood.

I wore a smile on my face from the first note to the last.  Of course, I can’t say enough about the simply brilliant Mervin Warren arrangement in this piece.  All that said, if Latifah hasn’t completely captured you by the end of “Mercy, Mercy, Mercy”, she will surely have your heart in the palm of her hands by the end of “Hello Stranger”. I thought that the only one who could do this piece justice was the original recording artist Barbara Lewis.  I was wrong!  Barbara would be proud, trust me.  I was around when it was originally recorded and I can tell you this could be recorded as a single tomorrow and I would be surprised if it didn’t rocket to the top of the charts.

To sum it up, I guess you can say that I loved this CD.  I guess you would have to be completely illiterate to think otherwise.  Queen Latifah has scored a big one with this work.  She could sing the Declaration of Independence to number one on the charts!  If I weren’t happily married for 25 plus years, I would only have one more thing to say. That would be “Latifah, will you marry me?!”
