The Sax Pack – Jeff Kashiwa, Kim Waters & Steve Cole

The Sax Pack gives us a little bit of everything. Funk, R&B, Soul and Jazz.

These three saxmen effortlessly bridge the 70’s with today’s smooth jazz.  Featuring smooth jazz saxophonists Jeff Kashiwa, Kim Waters, and Steve Cole, This talented trio does an excellent job combining their talents.  In my opinion, The Sax Pack is the complete package! They share an unique ability to combine each one’s distinct and individual sound into a seamless one.

Follow me….

As I listen to this album, I really had to pay attention, as they played together and seamlessly hand the reigns back and forth to one another. There’s no doubt in my mind that these 3 men share the same creative chemistry and visions when it comes to composing and playing music.

I enjoyed the cover track from the 60’s “Tequila”, which features an excellent guitarist of smooth jazz guitarist, Jeff Golub. However, my favorite cut off this hot album has to be, “The World Is A Ghetto”. An excellent version from 70’s mega group War. As I listen to that track, it took me back to a time when I was riding in my uncles’ 1970 Dodge Charger, listening to War on a 8 track stereo. A time when all I had to do was just sit back, listen and enjoy the beats and sounds.

This album allows me to do just that and thats why I really enjoyed this album. I’m sure if you sit back and take the time to really listen to this album, you too with be in agreement with me.. that The Sax Pack is worth picking up. I rate this album 4 out of 5 stars….
