Nick Colionne – No Limits

The debonair, slick paced, cool guitar sensation Nick Colionne swings his grooves your way with another smooth jazz staple for the airwaves. It comes directly to you from Koch Records & Nick spends the more considerable time repeating some of his familiar sounds to the R&B radio friendly hits. However, after listening throughout the playback, I identified his traits from being responsible for writing all of the tracks. Its smooth, laidback, funky & enjoyable to say the least. I’m talking about “No Limits” Ya’ll!!

Track Listing:
~ No Limits
~ Steppin’ Back
~ The Big Windy Cat
~ Melting Into You
~ Until Tonight
~ Hard Line
~ Ports Of Call
~ On The Edge
~ Headin’ Wes Before Dawn
~ Take A Walk With Me
~ Godfather J
~ Anyway (vocal)
~ Anyway (instrumental)

The 1st 2 tracks goes right after the radio format. But it changes direction in “The Big Windy Cat”, followed closely by Nick’s vocals in ballad “Melting Into You”.; Then the night time, lay back & relax mode is activated in “Until Tonight”. From there, the easy, contemporary strokes of the strings to a chilled, simply composed R&B grooved track presents what the ever gifted musician Nick C. is all about.

“Hard Line” has that bluesy appeal, with Nick singing effortlessly behind the composition.; Tracks “On The Edge”, “Headin’ Wes Before Dawn” & “Take A Walk With Me” each has a evenly paced grooveline with Nick just puttin his skills to the max. He returns to the singing approach in “Anyway”, although I appreciated the instrumental version much better. I always like it when he slows everything down, slow groovin’ the guitar plucks & then some. Those type of tracks adds flavor to the whole album, breathing a new but simplistic energy aside from the faster upbeat songs.

Nick still doesn’t disappoint. In fact, the CD sends me back down memory lane with such legends as George Benson, Wes Montgomery & so on. The project is applicable to set an ambiance for a special affair, or tender enough to enjoy your weekend (or weekday) action on the grill. Tight & off the chain. Grab it!
