Shikandaza – On The Bridge

With all the jazz musicians coming out of Japan like Hiroshima (they are really from L.A. and Hawaii), T-Square, Casiopea and many more, Shikandaza has found a common niche in the smooth jazz arena. Shikandaza is collaboration between Canadian Producer Ian McGregor Smith and Master Foozan Usui.

Together they have composed 10 luscious tracks for “On The Bridge”, just to wet your appetite. Shikandaza instrumentation consists of a 13-string koto, 7-string koto, Shakuhachi, acoustic quitar, percussion, mixed with keyboards, bass guitar, and drums in a modern jazz setting.

All 10 tracks are well crafted and are not over or under produced.

~ Bridge over the moon
~ Metia
~ City of temples
~ South sea shakuhachi
~ At the bridge
~ Kyoto again
~ Impressions of Kyoto
~ Enya totto
~ Kyoto dreams
~ Goro

This cd is a blending and collaboration of two different Countries by two different people but what remains is that the music is a universal language and it can be expressed anywhere, at any given time. Shikandaza has enjoyed success as being placed in many radio markets and have performed at various jazz festivals and concerts to standing ovations. I really enjoyed this smooth and exciting project. It’s a good cd to cruise to or play at your next oriental themed dinner party, so pick up some sushi and sake and enjoy the sounds of Shikandaza.

Make sure you pick up this cd for your collection.
