Michael K. – Moment In Time

Multi-talented, multi-instrumentalist Michael K’s new project is a flavorful Cd with rich tones and warm melodies that maintain a balance of songs that keep a mid-tempo groove throughout the twelve-song Cd entitled “Moment In Time”. Michael’s vocals are warm and sensitive, and the music doesn’t overshadow
his style.

After receiving his initial training as a young child and becoming serious as a teenager, Michael went on to study music at North Texas University. Shortly after, he continued his studies in orchestration and arranging under Don Sebesky, and later studied voice with pop music icon Michael Bolton. MK’s extensive musical background is easily discernible from the very start of his new record.

Songs like “Nowhere My Home”, “Plant City”, “Dad’s Groove”, “Moment In Time”, “Mind Over Matters”, and “Talk About It” are up-tempo tunes, but keep that mid-tempo feel. After listening, one can easily discern that Michael had learned well from the masters of classic pop-soul and yet goes a step further to create a style that’s uniquely his own. On the ballad side, the songs “Hollow Statue, and Try Love Anyway” show Michael’s sensitive side and keep you pondering their message long after they finish.

“Now I Understand”, and “Tradewind of Love” are sung by the lovely Christine Johnson. The melody for “Now I Understand” is beautiful, and I pictured Teena Marie singing it. Just by the way it is arranged and the way Christine sings it, it has that classic Teena Marie slow jam formula.

I really like this Cd and you will too. It’s a great anytime Cd. Just drop it in and let it play, and before you know it you’ll be hitting the repeat button.
