It been a minute since Matt Marshak released his last cd “On the rocks”. Since then, he’s touring here and there and everywhere. So I was wondering when he had time to drop this beautiful funk laden cd “FamilyFunktion”. Since a couple of tracks off his last cd, the funk has been chasing Matt. Just to embrace us with a tease. Then Matt slowed down just enough to let the funk catch him and reveal itself on this cd. The funk is instilled here with bass and drum, worked around from there, and then Matt’s gentle guitar playing compliments the song.
With funk tracks like “How You Like Me Now”, “I Will Be With You”, “Uptown”,”Family Function”, “Gas Lamp Groove”, “Real Good Time”, “Funkology”, & “Get To Know U”.
Matt slows it down a little bit but the funk is still present with “Great Soul”, “Seduction”, “Gratitude”, “Long Island’”…. and the beautiful acoustic track, “What Would Have Been”.
I have enjoyed listening to this. Matt takes us on a new direction with every record he produces.
