Motown The DVD | Definitive Performances

Motown The DVD

“Definitive Performances”

In 1959 the world began its love affair with the Motown sound.  Barry Gordy’s genius changed to way we listen to music and broke many society barriers. This DVD is packed with Motown performances and rare interviews that will astonish you.

It was The Marvelettes “Mr. Postman” that captured my attention to this genre of music. I remember my girl cousins singing this song and pretending that they were a famous girl group. The first Teen Town black and white video featuring “Mr. Postman” is an example of what inspired these many young girls. Many of the videos are from local and national syndicated tv shows. I am amazed of the quality in the restored video clips.  A great example of this is the picture and audio sharpness of The Contours “Do You Love Me”.

The interviews are historical, Martha and The Vandellas on The Mike Douglas Show in 1970, The Four Tops Australian interview and Barry Gordy with Barney Ales of Teen Town. I love the artist interviews because they professionally represented Motown. The girls were glamorous and the fellows well groomed.

The artist includes: Marvelettes, Contours, Marvin Gaye, Brenda Holloway, Martha & the Vandellas, Temptations, Four Tops, Supremes, Kim Weston, Stevie Wonder, Jimmy Ruffin, Gladys Knight, Edwin Starr and Smokey and the Miracles Robinson

There are eighteen great performances and many vintage interviews that will take you down memory lane. Also included in the dvd are various news clips and advertisements. This dvd is a must in your collection and would be a wonderful gift for a special love one.
