Lisa Lisa | Life ‘n Love

Lisa Lisa | Life ‘n Love

It’s been 16 years since her last release and that contained the song “Skip To My Lou”. Then, she turned around and dropped the jam “When I Fell In Love”. But not before dropping a club banger back in 1991 with “Let The Beat Hit’em”. Within that time frame, Lisa Lisa played the mother on Nickelodeons’ TV show ‘Tania’. Her new CD “Life‘n Love” is a well crafted collection of songs in both English and Spanish languages. Her voice is just as clear as it was when she first hit the music scene. Although she was dubbed the Queen of Latin Hip Hop, she also opened doors and paved the way for Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, and others in the latin music community.

Lisa takes us on a journey with “Life ‘n Love”: from the mid-tempo grooves & club beats to the slow tracks & then some. This cd has it all. Lisa keeps the Latin flavor going with “Booyah” and “Que Locura”, but also keeps the funk tracks, “Rock Into Your Soul”, “Feels Like Love” and a cover of the Sly Stones classic, “Stand”. I’ve been listening to this project for about a month now, and the Latin community was surprised to hear Lisa Lisa had something new out. They asked who it was since I was playing Rentengo Mi Emocion”. At the time, I just told them it was Lisa Velez.

There are other great songs that are worth a listen. Of course my favorite, “Had Enough” with it’s catchy hook, had me singing for awhile (See video above). I like this cd and so will you.
