Blu – Standing With Giants

Originally from Scotland, Blu is a former dancer whose debut cd, “Standing With Giants”, has been honing in on her singer/songwriter skills and released a fresh, exciting, alternative r&b/hip hop cd.

Blu, was globetrotting around the world dancing and singing for everyone else when she and a friend decided to go to a hip/hop club and that was all she wrote. She returned to London, closed herself off to the rest of the world, and begun focusing on her individual style. Once she got onto myspace, she was approached by everyone to do collaborations, which resulted in working with some of the hippest underground music producers around.

The ‘Standing With Giants’ cd offers a new approach to r&b/hiphop, by adding other worldly experiences mixed in with solid beats and a lovely arid voice.

Even though this cd is alternative hip/hop, the music keeps a certain groove. Songs like “Turn The Lights Down Low”, “Always”, “Distant Lover”, “Nature Of The Game”, & “Wanna Get Closer”, captures the lounge music format.

“Spinnin”, “Boy Next Door”, “Dreamin'”, & “Neva Felt Like This Before”, captures the R&B music format.

It was really interesting, listening to the drumbeats on “Neva Felt Like This Before” near the end of the song. So mix r&b, lounge, and some electronic sounds and you get a debut cd that’s eclectic, fresh, & R&B’ish-hip/hop all rolled into one 10-track cd.  And I hope to hear more from this artist.
