Nyee Moses | Nyee Moses

Sultry and smooth as silk, the self titled Nyee Moses CD debuted in 2008 (BMI), is very refreshing, delicious and seductive.

The young vocalist grew up in upstate New York and Philadelphia; there she studied classical training in voice and guitar. Her unique voice brings to mind Sade and the late Phyllis Hyman.  Nyee is an astute lyricist – not just telling a story – but also allowing one to feel the love, hope, joy, passion and pain that she feels through music. The heavy African and Latin influences is evident in the rhythms and percussion.

All tracks are masterfully engineered, written and produced by Nyee Moses, Susan Youngblood and Marquis Hami Dair. Susan Youngblood also sings background and Marquis Hami Dair performs on keyboards and guitars. The musicians are all 1st class with the likes of seasoned veterans including Grammy award winning artist Hubert Laws (Bonus track 11: Summertime) and rapper Krayzie Bone Thugs-N-Harmony (Summertime).

The set starts out right away on track one with the flamingo flavored flow of Between Us. This is one to Salsa to. Track 2, No Limits, is a story of love and the everyday problems that we go through. A bit more sedate and laid back. Track 3, Love is a Lion, and remix (Bonus track 10 -My favorite) has a nice flow to chill to while it’ll have you pouring your bath water and lighting candles for sure… Oh! Just make sure your Honey is with you; Vanilla is funky and upbeat with some cleaver guitar licks. Stay, Call Me, Acacia Tree (the tale of a history past) Under the Sun (more cleaver guitar licks), and The Journey are on hit. Tracks 4 through 9 are a fusion of R&B and African folk music and the rest were Neo-Soul vibes to round out the rest of the well done set. Track 10 Love is a Lion remix and Track 11 Summertime the George Gershwin funkdafied remake are bonus tracks.

The next time you are looking to expand your mind as well as adding some quality music to your collection, pick up Nyee Moses.
